Not long ago, Iran was home to many lions, tigers, and other big cats. Unfortunately these sleek hunters are now very rare, and some species have gone extinct. Only a handful of Asiatic cheetahs and Persian leopards remain.
Iran has several reserves and parks where wildlife thrives. One, called Kavir National Park, is located in the north-central region and is known as "Little Africa" because its plants and animals resemble those of Africa. This park is home to Iran's only cheetahs.
Iran's mountains in the north and west have dense forests that offer habitat for brown bears, wild goats, wolves, and leopards. The country's central plateau is home to deer, gazelles, hyenas, and jackals, among other animals.

Religous of Iran
I live in Tehran, and Baha’i is my faith. Fortunately, Baha’i faith is a non-Muslim religion, but just like Muslim. The Baha’i faith originated from Iran and most of the Baha’is lives in Tehran. My father converted from Muslim to Baha’i when we came to Tehran, because most of the people in ternary are Baha’is. Though we live in urban centers, Most Baha’is lives in villages. It is important to note that the Baha’i is a reformist movement within the entire Shia Islam that means the Baha’i faith began because of dissatisfaction with the Shia Islam.
The other religion in Iran is Muslim which originated from Middle East in the 7th century C.E. just as if Baha’i Islam is also monotheist. There are three types of Muslims in Iran, Shia, Sunni, and Suffi Islam (Daftary, 1998, pp. 196–199).
Religion has played a very important role in social, cultural, and economic development in my country. For example, the Iran culture is
developed around the Islamic religion and most part of the country and larger percentage of the Iran population are Muslims. As Baha’i we also have very strict rules, regulation, believes and norms that control the activity of the Baha’is. The contravention of this norm would lead one to be considered an outcast. It is also clear that the indigenous values and beliefs shape development and sustainability in the country. Cultural has the capacity to help the Iran community create and maintain peace. Sustainable development only comes because of peace and harmony, which the Muslim religion is influencing. In as much as we are in an asymmetrical world, where environmental degradation and poverty is real, we have been able to live this far because we have our own culture and values such as peace, sustainable development, and harmony (Geoffroy,& , Gaetani, 2010, pp. 26)
The Baha’i have their holy places in temples just like the Muslim brothers who have mosques. However, in the recent past, there has been hatred between the beau and the Muslims. The Baha'i World Center is located in the Haifa/Akka area in northern Israel and that is where we also go for pilgrimage. Other worship area also includes a central place in Tehran Iran.

The connection between biodiversity and cultural diversity in of plants and animals Iran
Biodiversity can be referred as the variety of plants and animals that lives in a specific area. It is an important index in promoting sustainable development of the entire country. In this perspectives Iran is counted to be one of the richest countries in terms of biodiversity. Due to specific climatic characteristics, various kinds of valuable plants and animal’s species are found in Iran. Because of deforestation and desertification in Iran, there is destruction of several plants and animals. Cultural diversity on the other hand is the quality of diverse cultures and the difference that exists in culture of a certain society. Iran tends to have diverse culture, as there are various tribes. In addition, the Culture of Iran is a mix of ancient pre-Islamic culture and Islamic culture. The people and nation of Iran has a history of thousands of years with various tribes, mathhab and religions sustaining all types of difficulties, wars and conflicts throughout history (Rajendra, Kaplan & Rajendra, 2003).
The latest census shows that the population of Iranian ethnic groups includes 65% Persians, 18% Turks 18%, 6% Lurs, 7% Kurds, 2% Balouches, and 2% Arabs (Rajendra, Kaplan & Rajendra, 2003). This shows that Iran is dominated with diverse cultures that make it to be the richest country in terms of culture diversity. Cultural identity is a collective feeling by people that they belong to the historical of the land. For instance, Iran people feel that they belong to the historical lands of Iran. Due to the fact that Iran is an Islamic dominated religious, it seems that Islam is the major identity of the Iranian. In Iran, kinship and tribal bounds, ethnic and linguistic affiliations, religious and cultural affinities, local and provincial ties, and other communal allegiances have often competed with an overarching Iranian identity (In Scheiwiller, 2013). Therefore, the major connection between diversity and cultural diversity in Iran is the linkage between varieties of cultures and plants that dominate the entire country. This means that their connection is reflected in physical convergence.
How has the culture of the country been influenced by the natural environment of the country in the past and in the present?
Sometimes natural environment can influence the culture of the entire country. Natural environment encompasses, trees, rivers, lakes among others. Due to the fact that Iran is an Islamic religion they believe that Shrines are extremely important in Iranian religious practice. These places tend to receive believers from all over the country. For this reason if there is any environmental calamities the entire function cannot take place as they only believe that shrines are most important place. Islam believes that dogs are ritually unclean. Thus, it is uncommon for them to have dogs as pets. They tend to believe that the company of dogs, except as helpers in hunting, herding, and home protection, invalids a portion of a Muslim's good deeds (Malandra, 1983). Iran tends to depend on tourism as many believers from other countries may come to visit their shrines.
Does the country have environmental issues which would affect the balance of biodiversity?
Iran has various environmental issues including desertification and deforestation. This has really played a significant role as it affects various animals and plants. It is known that, Iran is the richest country in terms of biodiversity due to specific climatic characteristics, various kinds of valuable plants and animal’s species are found in Iran. However, deforestation and desertification has affected the balance of biodiversity (Burke, Elliott & Lonely Planet Publications, 2008).
